Female breast sagging or ptosis
is a natural consequence of aging. The rate at which a woman's breasts droop
and the degree of ptosis depends on many factors. The key factors influencing
breast ptosis over a woman's lifetime are cigarette smoking, her number of pregnancies, gravity, higher body mass index,
larger bra cup size, and
significant weight gain and loss.
Post-menopausal women may experience
increased ptosis due to loss of skin elasticity. Many women and medical
professionals erroneously believe that breastfeeding
increases sagging. It is also commonly believed that the breast itself offers
insufficient support and that wearing a bra prevents sagging which has not been found to be true.
Medical professionals categorize the
severity of ptosis by evaluating the position of the nipple
relative to the infra-mammary
fold, the point at which the undersides of
the breasts attach to the chest wall. In the most advanced stage, the nipples
are below the fold and point towards the ground.
Breast sagging is a natural process that happens with age wherein the
breasts lose their suppleness and elasticity. It can be prevented by the
following;
1). Coconut Oil:
Massaging the
breast with coconut oil is beneficial and it will prevent the breast from
sagging. There are a number of natural oils
which can be used, including coconut oil, olive oil and pomegranate oil. They
are readily available and will improve skin tone, increase the elasticity of
the skin, and add firmness to the skin.
Pomegranate oil, is rich in
phyto-nutrients, and is considered a wonderful anti-aging agent, helping to
return youthful elasticity to aging skin. Massaging the breast will draw blood
to the surface and increase blood flow, thus stimulating muscle growth and cell
repair which will reduce the appearance and severity of sagging breasts.
2). Aloe Vera:
Historically,
Aloe has long been known to have important benefits for our skin, among them its natural skin-tightening qualities, which
can be used to treat and prevent sagging breasts. Their antioxidants qualities
help prevent damage caused by free-radicals as we age. Massage in a circular
motion for ten +minutes; let the Aloe Vera juice stay on the skin for another
ten minutes, then wash off.
3). Egg White
Egg white is also good for sagging breasts due to its astringent and skin-nourishing properties. The hydro lipids present in egg white helps lift loose skin around your breasts.1).Beat 1 egg white until you get a foamy texture. Apply this onto your breasts and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. Wash it off with cucumber or onion juice and then with cold water.
You can also prepare a breast mask by mixing 1 egg white with 1 tablespoon each of plain yogurt and honey. Apply it onto your breasts and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it off with cold water.
Follow either of these remedies once a week to enjoy firm breasts.
4. Cucumber and Egg Yolk:
Another excellent remedy for lifting the breasts is a mask prepared from cucumber and egg yolk. Cucumber has natural skin-toning properties and egg yolk has high levels of protein and vitamins that can help treat sagging breasts.- Puree 1 small cucumber in a blender.
- Mix in 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of butter or cream to get a paste.
- Apply it onto your breasts and leave it on for about 30 minutes.
- Wash it off thoroughly with cold water.
- Use this mask once a week to firm and strengthen the breast tissues.
5). Exercise:
Exercise that target the muscle around
the chest, breast tissues, pectoral muscles are a plus hence would help add
firmness. This exercise helps to strengthen the muscles and ligaments which
support the breast, slowing the pull of gravity to a minimum
Breasts are
composed of fat, and not muscle, however exercise will be beneficial by firming
and preventing the breasts from sagging.
Examples of exercise designed to strengthen the pectoral muscles beneath the
breast, such as push-ups and lifting light weights. Others exercise that can effectively lift up and firm sagging breasts
are– chest presses and pulls, arm raises, round-about push-ups,
and dumbbell.
6). Bra Size:
Wear the
proper bra when exercising. Whether it’s the bra you wear during the day or the
sports bra you change into at the gym, not sporting proper support is a big
reason for droop. Since your breasts
are made up of fat, not muscle, “the more
your boobs bounce around, the more stressed breast skin and collagen become,” but wearing an
improper, non-supportive bra can be as detrimental to your breasts .
Opt for a
quality bra which cups and supports the sides and bottom of your breasts. And
stay away from the generically sized models that usually come in sizes XS to
XXL. Endeavour to carefully choose a bra fitted to your chest measurement and
cup size.
7). Smoking:
Don’t smoke! Obviously, smoking is a bad idea in general, for a
variety of health reasons. But smoking can also damage the elasticity in our skin
and ligaments, escalating the problem of sagging breasts.
8).Body
Weight.
Maintain a
steady weight. The constant weight gain, can wreak
havoc on the skin and the supporting ligaments of the breast tissue. Just like
a rubber band, constant stretching and relaxing causes these structures to
exceed its elastic limit thereby losing its elasticity, this causes the breasts
to sag.
9). Water:
Water as we
know is always recurring as a panacea for a list of ailment, and sagging is not
left out. Endeavour to drink plenty of water. If you are not properly hydrated, your skin tends to become
dry, wrinkled, and not-supple, offering little or no support to your breast
tissue.
